Blatchford Announces the New BMK2 Mechanical Knee
Posted on Thursday, 6 January 2022
Our new BMK2 knee joint is a cost effective, mechanical knee that has been specially developed by Blatchford to meet the needs of older people with less mobility. The weight-activated stance phase control allows for a smooth transition into the swing phase. Thanks to the integrated drum brake for stationary phase protection, this monocentric knee is particularly suitable for users with a low level of activity and a high need for safety. The integrated, adjustable spring feeder supports the aspect ratio of the BMK2 and limits the flexion angle for a harmonious gait. The sleek design allows for simple, cosmetic disguise. Pair with AvalonK2 to give the user a full limb system that delivers safety, confidence and ultimately independence.
Key features:
- Easy and fluent walking
- Affordable, mechanical knee for mobility grade 2
- Compact, lightweight and stable
- Shock absorption due to stance phase flexion
- Tried-and-tested ESK technology with stability adapted to low walking speed
- Weight-activated control of the stance phase for smooth activation and release into the swing phase
- Adjustable stance phase stability and progressive braking mechanism
- Extension support through integrated, adjustable spring feeder
- Designed for optimal adaptation to lower mobility needs
- Ideal in combination with the AvalonK2 Suitable for hydraulic foot
In conjunction with the AvalonK2 Hydraulic knuckles enable safe movements. This articulated foot has been specially developed to meet the complex requirements of amputees who can travel shorter distances. By combining award-winning hydraulic knuckle technology and a uniquely optimised keel, Blatchford has developed a technology that works holistically with the user for greater confidence and independence. Explore the white paper that captures the biomechanics of the gait pattern of amputees who can travel shorter distances.
