Momentum® is an off-loading orthotic brace designed to deflect body weight and stabilise the foot and ankle to improve mobility and minimise pain.

Momentum is designed for patients with debilitating foot and ankle injuries, such as drop-foot, peripheral nerve injuries, pain due to complex fractures or multiple surgeries, and those considering ankle fusion surgery or elective amputation.

“I wasn’t sure how I’d ever get back to doing the things I loved, or even just being the father that I wanted to be.”
- James Hill, Momentum wearer

Design & Structure

Strength and Mobility

Lightweight Strength, Maximum Mobility

With carbon fibre struts that work much like prosthetic running blades it stores and returns energy to provide a spring in your step enabling participation in high impact activities such as running. Each brace is bespoke with the optimal alignment, spring strength and off-loading customised to each individual user.

Momentum Gym

A product with a tough military background

The original IDEOTM Brace was designed by the US Military and shared with the British Military as part of a programme for sharing best practice. Blatchford, who provides prosthetic and orthotic services to the Ministry of Defence, worked on making a UK version which is lighter and stronger and has successfully fitted many patients with Momentum, allowing them to continue their active lifestyles.

Meet James Hill, Momentum wearer and advocate for Blatchford:

When James Hill sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the legs while serving with the UK Special Forces, the trajectory of his life changed forever. Once a highly active operator trained for extreme endurance and tactical performance, James faced a future clouded with uncertainty and physical limitation.

“I wasn’t sure how I’d ever get back to doing the things I loved, or even just being the father that I wanted to be.”

But thanks to Momentum, a high-performance orthotic brace, James has not only regained his mobility but also reclaimed his entire mindset.
