Frank Kaufmann (57) is a transfemoral amputee. Due to a bacterial infection caused by blood poisoning, he initially suffered from severe knee pain. After eight months of hospitalisation due to sepsis, knee operations began, followed by a total of 17 surgeries and several rehabilitation stays in the period from 2014 to 2017. The last measure was the amputation of the right leg.
He still wants to make his dream of walking the Portuguese Way of St. James come true. What's more, this project is intended to encourage "like-minded people" to dare to do something.
On September 25, 2021, he will fly to Porto to begin his pilgrimage on the Camino Portugues.
