Angie: Echelon VAC
Angie Fowler: Finding Freedom to Live Without Limits
For Angie Fowler, life has always been about staying active. Whether she's working in a physically demanding career, caring for the animals on her farm, working out, or spending time with her children, slowing down has never been part of her plan.
Today, she moves confidently through every part of that busy lifestyle with her Blatchford EchelonVAC. But the road to getting there was one she never imagined.
An injury that changed everything
What began as a day playing in the snow with her children quickly became a life-changing event.

After suffering a severe ankle fracture, Angie underwent multiple surgeries in an effort to save her leg. Eventually, she received an ankle replacement, but complications followed. A post-surgical MRSA infection developed into osteomyelitis, which progressed to sepsis.
Ultimately, amputation became the only option.
"It all started with a broken ankle," Angie explains. "After several surgeries and complications, the infection became so severe that my leg had to be amputated."
While recovering from amputation was a challenge in itself, finding a prosthetic solution that allowed her to return to the active life she loved proved to be just as important.
A life-changing fit
Angie's first prosthesis used a pin-lock suspension system, but wearing it was painful.
"I rarely wore it because it hurt so much," she recalls.
Everything changed when she found her clinician at ForMotion Orthotics & Prosthetics.
There, she was introduced to a vacuum suspension system and when paired with the Blatchford EchelonVAC, it turned into a combination that completely changed her expectations of what life with a prosthesis could feel like.
"My first appointment was life-changing," Angie says. "For the first time, I could walk without pain. I never imagined I'd be able to do the things I'm doing today. It truly gave me my life back."
The secure fit of the vacuum system, combined with the natural movement of the EchelonVAC's hydraulic ankle, gave Angie the comfort and confidence she had been missing. Instead of thinking about her prosthesis with every step, she could simply focus on living her life.
"My first appointment was life-changing. For the first time, I could walk without pain. I never imagined I'd be able to do the things I'm doing today. It truly gave me my life back."
Back to doing what she loves
Today, Angie doesn't spend her time thinking about what she can't do.
Instead, she focuses on everything she can.
Her work requires her to stay on the move, including climbing airplane stairs throughout the day. At home, she's caring for animals on her farm, exercising regularly, and making the most of every moment with her family.
Most importantly, she never has to sit on the sidelines.
"My family is very active," Angie says. "There hasn't been a single activity where I've had to say, 'I can't do that.'"
Whether she's tackling a busy workday, navigating uneven ground around the farm, or simply enjoying time with her children, her prosthesis allows her to fully participate without hesitation.
Confidence in every step
One of the things Angie appreciates most about the EchelonVAC is how naturally it moves with her.
The hydraulic ankle adapts to changing terrain and everyday movement, while the vacuum suspension system provides a secure fit that gives her confidence to stay active without worrying about losing suction.
"The range of motion is incredible," she explains. "It moves naturally with me, and I never lose suction, so I always feel confident."
For Angie, that confidence goes beyond mobility.
Success isn't measured by how far she can walk or how many stairs she can climb. It's measured by the moments when she forgets she's wearing a prosthesis at all.
"It feels so natural that sometimes I forget I'm an amputee," she says. "I'm able to move quickly, stay active, and keep up with everything in my daily life."
Living without limits
When asked about her future goals, Angie doesn't talk about bucket-list adventures or distant dreams.
Instead, she smiles at the life she's already living.

"I'm living my goals and dreams right now," she says.
The EchelonVAC has become more than a prosthetic foot, it's a tool that allows Angie to fully embrace the life she's worked so hard to reclaim. From demanding days at work to caring for her farm, staying active with her family, and maintaining her fitness, it gives her the freedom to focus on what matters most instead of thinking about her prosthesis.
Her story is a reminder that the right prosthetic solution isn't simply about walking again. It's about restoring confidence, independence, and the freedom to say "yes" to life's everyday moments.
For Angie, that's exactly what moving without limits looks like.
