Toyah Blackwater
Echelon wearer
Toyah Blackwater is a physiotherapist, snowboarder, and amputee by choice whose journey began with a simple ankle injury at age 13. After twelve years of chronic pain, limited mobility, and countless medical interventions, Toyah made the courageous decision to pursue amputation to reclaim her quality of life. One year later, she is not only walking confidently but thriving at work, in the mountains, and in the water.
Wearing the EchelonVT has transformed Toyah’s daily mobility and her ability to stay active. Its hydraulic ankle and terrain‑response technology allow her to move naturally across slopes, uneven ground, and busy clinical environments. The vertical shock absorption and axial rotation reduce strain on her residual limb, helping her support patients throughout long NHS shifts and enjoy outdoor adventures without pain. From hiking Snowdon in under seven hours to returning to snowboarding and paddleboarding, Toyah is embracing a life she once thought was out of reach. With quick connection, adaptable footwear options, and a natural walking pattern, the EchelonVT gives her confidence in every step.

Having a hydraulic ankle has meant I can move more freely throughout the day. It’s taken away the pain I used to feel with every step.
